Replacing crankcase cover/won't start

Postby RaginPolok » Thu Mar 15, 2012 11:50 am

I recently laid my bike down and it cracked the crankcase cover. The bike was running great before and even after the crash. I replaced the cover and put a new gasket and changed the oil and now my cat won't start. It's making a clicking sound I believe to be the ignition but the motor won't turn. Something I did on installation? I tried jumping the bike thinking it was the battery? I haven't been able to find help on the subject so any suggestions are awesome. PLEASE HELP!

welcome to the site !

Munch is going to love your username....lol

the CLICKING sound IS battery or starter related.
9 out of 10 times, the battery is low, or the terminals are not clean/tight.
remove the terminals, clean both the cable ends and the terminals with steel wool or a wire brush
re attach.
when you "jump" start it, it should be from a NON RUNNING battery source (make sure vehicle is off)
( except for a booster or battery charging unit, never go over the 12v selection)

when it clicks, is it rapid clicking?

also, by typing in CLICKING in the search bar, I get over 35 pages of potential similar issues.....not all will be for the same things, but it does make it easier to filter answers as well... :cheers
